Brigitta Tummon is a Senior teacher and Iyengar yoga practitioner who has been teaching for many years in Holland, Switzerland, South Africa and now in Oslo, Norway.

To her, yoga is like a marriage, providing support and offering challenges as a companion in life. She further states that BKS Iyengar has been a most wonderful teacher to her, and that the Iyengar community is like a family. She loves the grace and beauty of Iyengar yoga, its precision and discipline, and how it can enrich our lives, if willing to practice.

Brigitta on the theme for the workshop:

From The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

II.1 Tapah svadhyaya Isvarapranidhanani kriyayogah
Yogic action has three components- discipline, self study and orientation towards the ideal of pure awareness

II.2 Samadhi bhavanarthah klesa tanukaranarthasca
Its purposes are to disarm the causes of suffering and to achieve integration

The path to realization, sadhana, is of no use unless one travels it. Action, kriya, is required for most of us if we are to progress towards enlightenment, samadhi. Energetic effort alone is not enough, it must be in the right direction, headed for the supreme objective. For Patanjali, discipline, tapas - literally meaning 'heat', provides the energy. Self-study, svadhyaya, serves as the roadmap and pure awareness, as exemplified by isvara, is the destination.

The workshop will suit students that have been students at our studio in 2+ years or attended Iyengar Yoga classes some other place on a regular basis. The classes will include Salamba Sarvangasana and Sirsasana.
